EASTER EGG HUNT
First grade is having an Easter Egg hunt this Friday! Each child will need to bring 12 candy-filled eggs to participate. Please don’t send candy with peanut or egg products as we have some children with severe allergies. Also, you may send an Easter basket with your child for the hunt. Otherwise I will provide a bag for your child.

Week 28
It's been awhile, huh? Thanks to those parents who have asked if I could continue to post on the class blog... I didn't think anyone was checking the site. :)
CRCT IN 25 DAYS?
Last year the state of Georgia decided first graders will NOT be taking the state standardized test called the CRCT. However, we have been hearing rumors that we will be taking the test. If not the actual test, we will be doing a mock CRCT. With that said the CRCT is in about 25 days.
The CRCT is designed to measure how well your child acquired the skills and knowledge of First Grade. Your child will be tested in Reading, English/Language Arts, and Math. The test dates are April 21-23.
Your children are more than prepared and I am confident they will do great. I sent home a paper a few weeks ago that had your child’s username and password for a website that will help with taking the test. If you’ve misplaced this sheet (I completely understand), just let me know and I will send home another.
BOOK FAIR
It’s book fair time! Next week March 14-18, Sallas Mahone will have it’s spring book fair. Your student will be coming home with a book fair flyer this week. A portion of the proceeds go to Sallas Mahone media center. So, support Sallas Mahone a purchase books from the book fair.

Week 11
Math Facts
Since I have wonderful parent support this school year, I figured I would take advantage of you all! Your children are progressing nicely in math facts; however, they need to speed it up! We compete against other classrooms and we are currently in second place – which is wonderful! But let’s go from good to GREAT and be the top class! So if you all will flash math facts with your child nightly so he/she will become quicker we will do the same here at school and maybe will become the top class! If you are in need of flash cards please let me know and I can send some home. The Dollar Tree always has a full stock of math facts!
Report Cards TODAY!
Report cards were sent home today, October 18th. Please review, sign, and return it by Friday. I am very pround of the students! They have become well-adjusted first graders!
Fall Festival
The 2010 Fall Festival is October 21, 2010 from 5:30 – 7:30. The Fall Festival promises fun, food, prizes for all who attend. Many volunteers are needed to help out with the games and prizes in the booths. If you can help please let me know. Thanks to Jacarius and Jadyn W.’s families for volunteering for the Fall Festival!
